lb & the root beer floats…
My son LB is the best son in the Universe! I love him with all my heart!
He is brave, & loyal, & explorative…
LB is kind, & strong, & he is a good builder (he built the bike above, when he first came to Earth!)…and LB has a has a gift for languages! LB can speak with all of our neighbors already…the birds indoor & out, the turtles, & even the language of the fish, dogs, & foxes!
Anyway, one night soon after we arrived on Earth, my dear son LB started taking the space kayak & running away from home! I think he missed his Dad very much!
Also…it was quite a change moving here to Earth from our quiet little planet! (Hmmm, there were also those wild, wild young mice he was hanging around with…) Well, whatever it was…

I was so very worried! LB would take the space kayak & fly up into the tree & then hover around, as if to take off for the stars!
He said he was going to fly off to find his Dad, all alone! Sometimes, I could even hear him call out to his Dad up in the sky somewhere, but of course, his Dad, Star, was too far away to hear that little voice calling out his name…
What did Seala think about her big brother during this time, you may wonder?
On one hand, she was frightened & worried about him…and on the other hand, she wanted to grow up & be bold & daring, just like LB! She was already practicing, in fact!
There were many evenings that it would become dusk, & still LB would be outside, way up in the topmost branches…
Finally…long after dark, Seala would call out the window, “LB, come have a ROOT BEER FLOAT!!!” …and into the window he would fly!
”Hi, Seala! Did you say root beer float? ” “Yup!”
One night, though, LB did try to fly far, far away…He just took off, heading straight up through the atmosphere. I didn’t know where he was going, or how far…
Luckily…by some great miracle…
…the space kayak sprung a leak very close to Earth, just outside the Earth’s atmosphere. I don’t know all the details, just the few that LB told me later.
LB was stuck just outside the atmosphere & didn’t know what to do. He couldn’t get back in, & yet he could not go further. He called out, “Daddy! Daddy!”
My dear readers, there are some things in the Universe which can never be explained or understood.
That night, for whatever reason, LB’s Dad happened to be travelling a new, quieter route, & from over a great distance, he unmistakedly heard his own son’s voice crying out for help!
He flew to rescue LB, and sent word to me that LB was safe. Star then kept LB with him for quite a long while, until LB was ready to return to Earth. I will be forever grateful for that!
Things are much better now…LB’s Dad has decided to move closer to Earth, to be near LB & Seala…& we all feel more at home here. Since he is a star, we can see him twinkling nearby at nighttime, & LB & Seala often visit him & his new family now.
So…the following is not actually a recipe, but a home remedy that comes in handy to heal some of the aches & pains of life:
MAGICAL ROOT BEER FLOATS:
Place 1 scoop of vanilla bean ice cream into a glass or mug &
pour plenty of ice cold root beer on top!
Enjoy!
love,
Clay Ball
