music to my eyes

With my new glasses, I can see clearly now…
…my beautiful children…& all the things they show me…
…the difference between my friend Lon & a pear…
…and a whole host of other things that enchant me each & every day…I am so happy & thankful for my new glasses!
What I had not counted on though…was the music!
The first night after getting my glasses, we were all very sleepy…so after tidying up & going out to look at the stars, we went to bed quite early…
Not long afterwards, I heard some music…so I got up, & put on my glasses to go investigate…
That is when I discovered that…the music seemed to be coming from…of all places…my glasses themselves!
I did not know what to make of it…so I put the glasses outside in my space kayak for the night, & went to sleep.
The next morning, my glasses were silent, so I put them on & went about my day…
…But when evening came around…the music started up again! I was mystified! Although it was a week night, I bundled up LB & Seala, & invited our neighbors to join us, & we all headed over to my parents’ home for a family council…
First, my dear family & friends gathered around as my glasses sang & played music. It was very, very beautiful!
Lon the Elephant told us it was definitely Mongolian or Tuvan throat singing, which he really loved & used to listen on the radio when he lived in Sofia. But where was it coming from?
After much heated discussion, poetry, & scientific speculation, Seala piped up that she had read an article in school, that radio transmissions can sometimes be heard from different places, not necessarily just radios…
…so it seems, we finally concluded, that my glasses are perhaps picking up a shortwave radio program from Mongolia! The time change works out quite well for me & my glasses…because during the day, when I need to think a bit, my glasses fall silent…& then about 7 o’clock at night, when it is time for some evening music, my glasses will start to play.
Each night at bedtime, I just put them outside in the space kayak, where they serenade the stars all night!
As my mother says, “Ga*el*, *ts’La*ebe* *is*cht* *in*teres*sant?*“, which in our ancient language from far, far away means, “Life is interesting, isn’t it?”
love,
Clay Ball
If you have never heard throat singing, here is a sample!
…Here is a sample of the tuvan style…a Swiss vocalist, Christian Zehnder visits the group of Tuvan singers, Huun Huur Tu…the Swiss man does some beautiful throat singing at 0:45 & the Tuvan singing begins at 4:13!
(Tuva is a Russian republic, which borders the country of Mongolia!)
