a surprise at the park
Yesterday after work, my sister Tessa came to pick me up in her blue space kayak. She said she had a surprise for me, & in the kayak she had a mysterious bulky package, wrapped in cloth.
She flew the kayak to a nearby park, found a nice mossy spot, and then she pulled out…a pair of giant rings! One was a shimmery blue & the other was more peppermint-striped.
My sister had gotten us each a hula hoop! I was completely mystified…& believe me, so was everyone else in the park that day!
But, Tessa is never one to be shy…
…and she got right down to hula hooping…isn’t she really good at it?
The hula hoop was whirring around her in super-fast circles…& to me, she looked exactly like Saturn with her rings!
”Tessa Hula Hooping“
Then I gave it a whirl…
…well, it wasn’t quite as easy as Tessa made it look…But, my sister patiently showed me again…& I kept trying!
Finally…as the sun began to make that soft goldeny light that says it is time to go home,
…I got the hang of it! Well, a little bit!
Hula hooping is really fun! Tessa predicts that before long, we will attract a large crowd of fellow hula hoopers, all hula hooping gracefully…
Hmmm…we’ll see!
Thank you so much, my dear sister Tessa, for a lovely surprise at the park!
love,
Clay Ball
