chocolate pears
This is a delicious & simple dessert, perfect for a cozy evening! It is my children’s favorite dessert!
INGREDIENTS:
3 or 4 pears, peeled, halved, & cored
3/4 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 tablespoons sugar
chocolate sauce:
about 1-1/2 to 2 ounces (a small bar or half of a large bar) of milk chocolate or dark chocolate
1/4 cup water
Place the 3/4 cup water, 3 tablespoons sugar, and vanilla extract into a saucepan & stir. Add the pears, cover the pan, & simmer about 10 or 15 minutes or until the pears are tender, turning once.
In the meantime, melt the chocolate on low-medium heat–you can just place it in the saucepan & allow to slowly melt, then stir in about 1/4 cup water & continue heating & stirring until a nice, smooth sauce forms. You can add more water for a thinner sauce.
Arrange 2 pear halves on each plate, & pour a bit of chocolate sauce over them.
This recipe may also be made using ready-made canned pear halves instead of cooking the pears.
Enjoy!
