An icy, thirst-quenching treat with sparkling lemon slices…perfect for sitting in the grass & watching the fireflies…
My daughter Seala has a homemade lemonade recipe to share!
Here is my daughter Seala! I love her with all my heart! Seala is a brave & steady girl with a good head on her shoulders (or as we say on our planet, good all-around!)
I believe she is the most funny, intelligent, & beautiful daughter in the whole Universe, & she has a gift for making everyone feel comfortable & included, while at the same time standing up for herself…
One blue day, Seala made me a popsicle stick with the words above, “Make lemonade from a lemon!” It is my favorite gift, & I love to read it & remember her bright little face on that day.
Here’s Seala’s Homemade Lemonade Recipe:
INGREDIENTS:
8 or 9 lemons
1-1/2 cups sugar
2 cups water
(later, we’ll add 3 more cups water & 1 to 2 cups ice cubes)
This recipe yields 8 or 9 cups lemonade!
First, prepare a syrup by combining 2 cups of water & 1-1/2 cups sugar in a small saucepan. Heat on low to medium heat until the sugar is dissolved, stirring occasionally. This will just take a few minutes.
Allow to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until ready to make the lemonade.

While the syrup cools, halve the lemons & squeeze the juice, to make about 1 cup of lemon juice (set aside half a lemon to slice later on for garnish).
( It works best if the squeezer fits right on top of the rim of the cup, so the juice won’t leak out! Remove the pulp from the squeezer as it builds up–you can either add it to the lemonade or leave it out, as you prefer!)
If you have no lemon squeezer on hand, that’s okay! Try this:
Just hold the lemon firmly in one hand, & with the other hand (rounded side of the spoon facing the lemon) put the tip of the spoon where the peel meets the pulp.
Then, just press the rounded side of the spoon down hard onto the lemon while twisting the spoon back and forth in a rocking-chair-type motion, squeezing the lemon juice into the bowl below. (I use a bowl rather than a cup, because this method is rather splashy!)
Mix the sugar-water syrup & the cup of lemon juice in a large pitcher, then add about 3 cups of cold water & 1 to 2 cups of ice cubes until the pitcher is full! If the flavor is too strong, you can just add a bit more water, & then…
…place a few slices of lemon in the pitcher or glasses for a pretty touch!
That’s it!
For pink lemonade, I have been told that adding a little bit of cranberry juice to this recipe will make a lovely pink-red color!
Thank you, Seala!

SEALA’S HOMEMADE LEMONADE RECIPE
This recipe yields 8 to 9 cups of lemonade.
Ingredients:
8 or 9 lemons
1-1/2 cups sugar
2 cups water
(then later, add 3 more cups cold water & about 1 to 2 cups ice cubes)
First, prepare the syrup by adding 2 cups of water & 1-1/2 cups of sugar to a small saucepan. Heat on low to medium heat, until the sugar is dissolved, stirring occasionally. This will just take a few minutes.
Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate.
Halve the lemons, setting aside 1/2 lemon to use for garnish (I often forget this until too late!). Squeeze the lemon juice to make about 1 cup. (You can remove the pulp or add it to the lemonade, whichever you prefer!)
Add the syrup & lemon juice to a pitcher, then add about 3 cups of cold water (if the lemonade is too strong, you can just add a little more water, but the ice cubes will also dilute it a bit!)
Add enough ice cubes to fill the pitcher. If the pitcher is already full, you can just add the ice to individual glasses.
Slice the remaining lemon & add to pitcher or glasses for a pretty touch!
For pink lemonade, you can add a little cranberry juice until it’s the color you like.
Enjoy!
love,
Seala
